Dunebound is a top-down 2D extraction shooter where every run matters. Take control of your trampler — a legged, customizable desert vehicle that carries you and your equipment across the wastelands. Use its legs to traverse rough terrain, scavenge, loot, and return to your base.

Between runs, prepare your loadout and get ready for the next dangerous run. Manage what you take into the desert carefully — every item matters.

One mistake out here and you lose everything you brought—your gear, your loot, even the trampler. Every choice counts, from which route to take to which fights to engage.

Key Features

Extraction-Style Risk-Reward
Head into the desert, fight enemies, and secure resources—but if the run ends badly, you lose everything you brought.

Pre-Mission Loadout System
Choose what items to take before each mission. Plan ahead and manage your gear carefully to maximize survival chances.

Customizable Trampler Base (in progress)
The trampler serves as your mobile base and will be expanded with upgrades like storage, weapons, and utility modules.

Dynamic Combat & Enemies
Fight different enemy types:

  • Pistol Bandits applying steady pressure

  • Machine Gun Bandits firing bursts

  • Shotgun Bandits dominating close range

  • Zombies guarding resource locations

Enemies react using vision, sound, and behavior systems like patrolling, searching, and retreating.

Airdrop Events
Call in supply drops using smoke grenades. Defeat incoming enemies to secure high-value loot.

Destructible Combat Systems
Explosions from RPGs and grenades deal damage to players, enemies, and enemy structures, creating layered combat interactions.

Top-Down 2D Action
Smooth movement with meaningful combat mechanics like sprinting (speed vs. accuracy) and aiming (precision vs. mobility).

Short, Focused Runs
Quick sessions that emphasize planning, execution, and risk management.

Current State

The game is currently in an early prototype stage:

  • Core gameplay loop is functional

  • Enemy AI and combat systems are implemented

  • Loadout and inventory systems are working

  • Minimap system is in development

  • Visuals are placeholder (dev art) and will be improved later

Playstyle

In Dunebound, every run across the desert demands tactical planning, survival instincts, and quick decision-making. Each extraction is a constant balance of risk versus reward, and the trampler is both your lifeline and your biggest liability in the unforgiving wasteland.
